Gloria Zein - Haltung(s)*echo

Exhibition project as part of a one-year collaboration between Kunstverein Langenhagen and class 10.2 of the IGS Langenhagen

An exhibition of the artist Gloria Zein in the classroom M12 of the IGS Langenhagen. The project 'Art in the classroom' is a one-year collaboration between the Kunstverein Langenhagen and the class 10.2 of the IGS Langenhagen.

For an entire school-year the Kunstverein Langenhagen commits to a project with a class of the IGS Langenhagen. The project takes place in a regularly used classroom. The normal "movement" is reversed: the students do not come to the Kunstverein, but the Kunstverein comes to them.

Three artists are invited to each create an exhibition in the classroom. For three times throughout the school year, the pupils learn and live with these exhibitions. The classroom embodies both school and an exhibition space at the same time.

The emphasis of this project lies on the intensive and long-term collaboration with the students. They are involved in each creation process of the artworks and the exhibitions and get many opportunities to discuss their thoughts, questions and ideas with artists.

Depiction, Again

With Colleen Asper, Aoife Collins, Craig Drennen, Daan van Golden, Shimon Minamikawa, David Leggett and Wong Ping

What meaning do pictures carry? This question has been asked by artists at all times. With the technical developments of the past centuries, our relation to pictures and images in relation to reality has constantly changed. Today, our technical devices allow us to copy, mirror, manipulate, and share images within minutes. The exhibition Depiction, again looks specifically into the flexibility of 'pictures'. With its title it refers to the abundance of images in our daily lives, which makes it increasingly difficult to define originals, derivatives or fakes, and further: authorship. The artists that are part of this exhibition question what is presented and in which way, and how we deal with images as individuals and as society. In order to be able to experience the variability and flexibility of image and picture in a spacious way as well, the works will be rearranged during the second half of the exhibition and thus 'depicted' again. The reopening of the exhibition will happen on january 8.

Christopher Knowles – These are the days

+++ The exhibition has been extended until 21 June 2020 +++

Christopher Knowles’ works capture and order everyday materials around us through repetition, abstraction and pattern formation. Permutation and seriality are important characteristics in minimalist art, that Knowles uses in his own way. Time becomes a landscape in his work, a visual pattern. Language is made physical, colours often refer to their iconic or political meaning. This exhibition will be a mixture of older and newer works that convincingly shows the scope and universe of Knowles’ practice.
