About us

Since its founding in 1981, the Kunstverein Langenhagen has been dedicated to promoting and discussing contemporary art. To this end, it organizes several exhibitions each year featuring internationally active artists. In conjunction with this, it organizes a variety of events, educational programs, and discussion formats with various cooperation partners.

Since 2000, the Kunstverein and its exhibition space have been located in the former bowling alley of the Waldersee building in the center of Langenhagen near Hanover. The association also uses the former chapel in Langenhagen's Eichenpark on an irregular basis.

Membership

Our members receive regular invitations to all exhibitions and activities of the association and a discount on our publications. Your membership card entitles you to free admission to over 300 art associations that belong to the Working Group of German Art Associations (AdKV). These include the Kestner Gesellschaft and the Kunstverein Hannover.

Management

Steffen Zillig has been managing the art association since 2026. Previously, Sebastian Stein (2021 to 2025) and Birte Heier (2023 to 2025), Noor Mertens (2017 to 2021), Ursula Schöndeling (2008 to 2016), and Veronika Olbrich (1993 to 2007) held the position. The association's board currently consists of Holger Graab (chairman), Ilka Schulze (treasurer), Frank Kurzhals, and Martin Beister-Jakob.

Funding

The exhibition and educational program is supported by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. The Kunstverein's website was funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. The Kunstverein is part of the Kulturnetz Langenhagen.
